Personality
William's a gentle old man, who will often be seen up and about, mingling with the residents. He's a trusting person, but also understands the world he now lives in and knows that there are people out there that will abuse that trust. Due to his position, he also has learned how to lead people, though he is still wary of conflict. While some residents are willing to fight, he is more likely to attempt diplomacy before blood has to be shed. Even though The University hasn't been used as a proper college since the surge, he is still a professor at heart, and will often try to teach his residents and will often be carrying at least one piece of Pre Surge literature under his arm.
History
He was just a humble English Professor at Lake Forest college before the Surge hit. He'd never aspired for anything beyond that excpet for perhaps moving on to a bigger, more prestigious university. Of course, The Surge caused for some plans to be changed, and for Professor Everett, he realized that he might not be able to move on to another school, he didn't realize that he wouldn't be leaving though. Some people scattered and ran, but some students and faculty stuck around, not sure if the power would come back on. After a few weeks, it became clear that the power wasn't, and that it wasn't a safe place. Some of the remaining students decided that since getting home might be impossible, they would make the campus into home. Those left, numbering around 200, started The University, and the numbers have fluctuated since then. William may have been one of the first residents, but he was not the first Headmaster. The First headmaster was an older woman and the former president of the college, when she could no longer lead, she passed that distinction onto William, one of the most experienced staff still living at The University. Now William leads the University and does what he can to keep it safe from the dangerous world out there.
