"Sir, there's someone at the gate? How do you want us to handle it?" Someone said, standing in William's office as he shuffled through some papers.
"Hmm? New comers you say? We'll do what we've been doing for several decades. Let them in. As a matter of fact, I'll come with you to greet them. I may be old but that's no reason to keep me cooped up in this office here." William said, grunting as he stood up and grabbed his cane. What once had served as a bit of a facade to make him appear more frail then he was, had become much more necessary for the old man to get around. "Now, tell me, what do these new comers look like?" The headmaster said as he started to make his way out of the library he had put his office in.
"Well, er, we don't have anything official yet sir. The scouts just spotted individuals headed our way. This is why I don't think it's a good idea you go back to your office." The resident told him as they made their way across the grounds towards the make shift gate that had, so far, withstood the test of time.
"Nonsense my boy! If they pose a threat we have guards and my trigger finger is still as good as it was." He said, patting the holster on his belt. "Besides, if there's a chance for us to have guests, I want them to know exactly what they're getting into when they come here. Now, how far out are they?" William said, arriving at the gate, sitting down when one of the guards brought him a chair and urged him to do so.
"A few minutes sir...Are you sure you want to be out here when they arrive?"
"I've told you once I'll tell you every time, this committee was founded as a safe haven for any who can find it and it will continue to be until there aren't people left to live in it. The woman who ran this place before me met every single person who came here and now so will I." William said, tapping the cane for emphasis and waiting for the newcomers to arrive.
